Congreso is a vibrant nonprofit organization serving the various Latino populations of Northeast Philadelphia. The word vibrant can mean “brightly colored,” or it can mean “full of life, vigor, and activity.”
Congreso is both.
Our job was to capture, in photographs, the comprehensive variety of programs Congreso offers to the children, youth, and families of Northeast Philadelphia.
Congreso’s mission is to strengthen Latino communities through social, economic, education, and health services; leadership; and advocacy. We saw all of this, and more, as we visited and photographed the various components of Congreso.
Their staff of over 300 are friendly, compassionate, and professional — and they have clearly earned the trust and respect of the community.
Capturing the work of a large, nationally-recognized nonprofit like Congreso takes time. They offer dozens of programs to children, youth, adults and families. Our guide through all of this was Christine Bare, Congreso’s marketing manager. She was instrumental in organizing our photography shoots, contacting the various program leaders, arranging photo release forms in advance, and brainstorming with us about what kinds of photographs would be most helpful.
We look forward to working with Congreso again in the future, and hope that our photography will help them communicate the kind of vibrant and effective work they’re doing for Latinos in Northeast Philadelphia.
